Blue Lock Episode 15

Blue Lock brought us a great two-on-two match this week with high stakes for all of the characters involved, and forced Isagi to develop his character a lot before the end of the episode. It also managed to tug on our heartstrings in a very unexpected way, and has set up some things to be looking forward to in the next couple of weeks. After last week's slower episode, this one got right back into business with great soccer moves and a faster pace.

Blue Lock Episode 15

Blue Lock is still in spot number 6 on MyAnimeList's rankings for Winter 2023, maintaining its score of 8.27. It seems that fans understood that last week was still an important episode, even if it was not as nail-biting as some other ones have been. This week definitely rewarded fans' loyalty though with a more interesting story and really important character development.

Already, though, we can see that Barou is not a team player. He and Nagi are even willing to fight over who will get the single bed at the end of the episode! How they are all going to be on the pitch next week will be interesting to say the least. Plus, the episode ended by showing Nagi's friend Reo teaming up with Chigiri and Kunigami - and all three of them are out for vengeance after being left behind. The inevitable match between those teams is going to be great!

Isagi wants to find what he is lacking and is ready to use anything. He tries two-on-one passes and to then outrun Naruhaya, but Naruhaya catches up. Isagi ends up again passing to Nagi, who then scores and equalizes the game. Isagi figures that just changing tactics and actions, won't help him find what he is lacking. He realizes that change can only begin when you tear down everything you were before. Baro takes a shot from the center, guessing this time he will score, but Nagi manages to return and block the ball. Isagi manages to get the ball, but Naruhaya comes from behind and takes it from him, stating he won't be losing one-on-one to him. Naruhaya then prepares to take a shot, but Nagi comes and seeing his eyes, Naruhaya freezes. Baro then comes from the side asking for the ball. Naruhaya also gets scared by his eyes and passes him the ball, after which Baro scores. Team Red needs one more goal to win. Isagi knows that this play was important as they could have taken the lead, but as he lost the ball, they are now behind. He wonders if he observed Naruhaya, if he could have prevented him from stealing the ball, but since Naruhaya came from behind him, he just won't have been able to see him anyway, in his blind spot. Thinking of a blind spot, Isagi starts to wonder if Naruhaya always positions himself where Isagi can't see him. Isagi realizes that one-on-one isn't when you only have the ball and there is "off the ball" one-on-one. And if he considers every move that's made on the field as part of one continuous one-on-one, it goes against everything he considered normal up to now.

In the match, Isagi constantly struggled against his opponents as Nagi himself was carrying the teams, using his weapons. While the former believed that all he needed to do was focus on Naruhaya, he too, was stronger against him in the match, leaving Isagi in despair. The episode ended with a score of 2-2, with Naruhaya seen placing a shot.
